Professional Florists, sign up for our 2nd Annual Virtual Floral Art Competition category, Fibonacci/Golden Ratio, here! Open to CAFA Members, Friends of CAFA Members and Non-Member floral artists with 2 or more years experience.

$50 entry fee for Non-Members, $25 for Friends of CAFA Members, free entry for CAFA members. If you’re not a CAFA or Friends of CAFA member, learn more about becoming a Member here. Amazing cash prizes to be won, provided by our amazing sponsors! Plus many other in-kind prizes to be won!

Important Details

• Category – Fibonacci/Golden Ratio – Design clearly must represent The Fibonacci Sequence – See video on our Facebook page for more information. The Fibonacci Spiral – Sequence is: 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34…
• $50 entry fee for Non-Members
• $25 entry fee for Friends of CAFA Members, membership must be current.
• $0 entry fee for CAFA Members, membership must be current.
• 75% fresh material coverage in the design
• No artificial or permanent botanical materials allowed
• Design must have a water source
• Size restrictions  4’ wide by 4’ deep by 4’  high
• Photograph only the design, on a neutral, well lite background. No ambient photos taken in a room setting allowed. The entry will not be judged
• Images may not be cropped, or photoshopped. Full design must be shown in all images with no identifying markings.
• Set of 3 photos are required for judging – 1. Side or back view  2. Front view  3. Close up of details and mechanics (this photo will not be of the full design)
• Submit only 3 images  

Competition Rules and Regulations

1. Each contestant may only enter one (1) of the 2 contest categories.
2. CAFA Members and Friends of CAFA Members will each be given a single use discount code. Check your email!
3. Limit of one (1) entry per person in each contest category.
4. Entries are welcome from anywhere in the world.
5. The entry must be your own creation, designed new for this competition.
6. The entry fee must be paid at the time of registration. Student CAFA/Novice – $25 entry fee, Professional Non-members – $25 entry fee, Friends of CAFA – $25 entry fee and for current CAFA member entry is free.
7. All entry fees are in Canadian Dollars.
8. CAFA Members must be in good standing to participate in the CAFA Member category. 2020/21 dues must be paid in full to participate. 2021/22 dues must be paid in full to win.
9. Photo submissions must be received during the submission period. The photo submission period is from April 24, 2022 to April 30, 2022 until midnight Eastern Standard Time. NO late entries will be accepted.
10. Contestant must use fresh florals and fresh foliages. No permanent botanicals allowed. Minimum 75% fresh materials showing is required for the entry to be judged.
11. Set of 3 photos are required for judging – 1. Side or back view  2. Front view  3. Close up of details and mechanics (this photo will not be of the full design)
12. No name, watermark or identifying information shall be permitted on the (3) images.
13. The (3) images may not be of an interior, wedding or event space, or a visual display.
14. The (3) images must be originals. They may not be edited, photoshopped or digitally altered in any way, including altering the colours.
15. High resolution photos in 300dpi are required.
16. Photos must be clear, in focus, properly lit on an uncluttered neutral background. Designs will be evaluated on Creativity, Elements and Principles of Design, Mechanics and on the overall artistic interpretation of the category theme.
17. By entering the competition, you are confirming you have secured permission from the photographer for Canadian Academy of Floral Art and the sponsors of the contest to use your entry images on all social media accounts, websites and print material.
18. Images must be copyright free.
19. All photo submissions will be acknowledged by email upon receipt during the submission period.
20. Do NOT post your entry photos on any social media platform before the contest closes and the winners have been announced and notified. If you do, your entry will be disqualified.
21. Prizes will be awarded to the First, Second, and Third Place Winners in each category.
22. Winners will be announced online by May 31st, 2022.
23. The CAFA website and social media will be kept updated with contest details and the winners information once judging is complete and winners are announced.
24. Cash prizes will be awarded directly to the winners in Canadian Dollars.
25. All non cash prizes will be distributed from the Sponsors. Some non-cash prizes are geographically specific and will not be available to international winners.
26. Participating and winning a prize is contingent upon agreeing to and fulfilling all the requirements set forth in these official rules.
